Pool Cleaners Need Maintenance Too PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 14 March 2007

In order to keep your pool clean in after your pool aromatherapy you’ll need to care for it just like you would any other appliance.  The first step in maintaining any of the pool cleaners is to use them correctly.  As easy as most of the automatic pool cleaners are to use today, it is still necessary to read the owner’s manual and follow all instructions.

Many of the automatic and robotic pool cleaners advertise that they pick up large debris.  While this may conjure up images of tree branches and turtles, what this actually means is “large” debris like acorns and large leaves.  That means you have to manually pick up larger twigs, tree branches and the like.  Watch out also for children’s toys and anything else that the pool cleaner shouldn’t “eat.”

Certain chemicals can harm pool cleaners especially when they are out of balance so you’ll want to make sure your chemical balance is where it needs to be before you use your pool cleaner.

Another important step to take regarding pool cleaners is to make sure you are purchasing the right kind of pool cleaner for your pool in the first place.  While some models, especially the robotic pool cleaners will work for almost any kind of pool, there are some pool cleaners that are made for certain kinds of pools.  Check with your pool supply store or online retailer to make sure you are purchasing the correct kind of pool cleaner for the swimming pool you have.

While very little maintenance is needed for pool cleaners to keep them in optimum working order, check the owner’s manual, keep the appliance clean and dry and empty the receptacle that traps the debris.  With proper care, most pool cleaners can last for several years.
